Story

My mother was fairly recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's. We are all learning to cope and support her so she can be happy and also support my father, who is incredibly devoted to my mum and caring for her so lovingly at home.

But, it's not just for my family, there is still so much to learn about the disease and find a cure.  The more we can all do to raise awareness and understand how to recognise the signs in others and ourselves - we can create a kinder and respectful world for those affected by this complex and devastating disease.

I swim quite a lot but mainly in warm swimming pools!  So swimming a mile of the Serpentine will definitely be a challenge for me.

I do hope you can support me in any way even if it is just by reading more about the disease and how you can get involved.

There is a great initiative called "Dementia Friends" dementiafriends.org.uk which is a really easy way of finding out more about the small things you can do to help.

Thank you

Best wishes

Liz
