Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Your support is really appreciated and every penny you donate will give children hope and help me through all the ups and downs, both physical and mental, of my walk.
The Isle of Wight Ultra Challenge is 106km (66 miles) long and includes climbs of almost 2,000m (more than the height of Ben Nevis). I start the walk at 8.20am on Saturday 4th May and hope to complete it in a little over 24 hours.
I have supported CHICKS for many years and have seen first hand, whilst volunteering on their breaks, what wonderful work they do for children living in difficult circumstances. Sadly not all children have carefree happy lives, all too many suffer from the responsibilities of being carers or the effects of bullying, abuse or bereavement. CHICKS provides respite holidays where young people have a chance to escape their worries, have fun, relax and try new experiences. On my breaks we have taken children rock climbing, ridden horses across Dartmoor, spent a day on a Cornish beach, toasted marshmallows on a camp fire and played numerous games of football, pool and UNO. CHICKS breaks build self confidence and provide happy memories that support the children through the many challenges that they face in their daily lives.
CHICKS needs to raise £1.7m every year to provide these amazing respite breaks. Your sponsorship will help more children enjoy fun filled CHICKS activities that they will remember for years. THANK YOU.
