Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Hi everyone, my name is Liz. I'm a mother of three children's nurse from South Lincolnshire and I'm about to embark on the trip of a lifetime. I'm off to Uganda to teach a group of student nurses some clinical skills in nursing sick children.
My day job involves managing a community hospital here in Lincolnshire and prior to that I was a Sister on a children's ward in Peterborough.
This is as far out of my comfort zone as I can possibly be, but this year, I promised myself, was the year to say yes.
I need to take some equipment out with me so I am looking for support. As a family we are raising money for the trip but I also need funding for some specific equipment that would help equip these student nurses. I need finger pulse oximeters, pen torches, nurses fob watches and a resuscitation baby and child. A fob watch is only about £10 and that makes a difference between knowing if a child is on the way up or on the way down when they're sick. The sats probes are £20 each. The resusci baby is £150.
My boy is still here because the NHS were awesome when I needed them to be when he was very sick and if I can just help save one baby from dying from dehydration when they are sick then I will have done a good job. Two.....and I'll be whoop-de-whooping!!
