Story
With early onset Alzheimer’s my sister experiences almost daily changes to the way she is able to live her life. She is 61 and has had the disease for over 4 years. She is currently very aware of how having Alzheimer’s prevents her from fully living her well deserved retirement. She worked for over 30 years as a teacher, and then headteacher in Manchester schools. She has touched and improved the lives of so many children.. She has been proactive in trying to help others learn more about this debilitating disease by taking part in (unsuccessful) drugs trials. Although she knows lots of activities are very challenging for her, she never stops trying to be involved. She is amazing and inspirational and is joining all the family on this Glow walk.
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
