Covid-19 has amplified the effects of sexual violence for many survivors. The additional anxiety and isolation due to the pandemic added to the trauma survivors already experience as a result of sexual violence. Covid-19 also created circumstances in which many adults were locked down with their sexual abuser. Last year, we delivered our specialist services to more survivors of sexual violence than in any other year in our 30-year history. Sadly, we see no sign of this demand decreasing which is why we have launched this special Covid-19 recovery appeal. Donations to this appeal will help ensure we have the right number of Helpline Listeners, Support Workers, Counsellors, Trauma and EMDR Therapists to deliver our specialist services to survivors of sexual violence beyond the pandemic.
