Adam and Emma's West Highland Way Challenge

Fundraising for Multiple Sclerosis Society
We are Adam and Emma and are aged 11 and 9! For all our lives our Aunt Lorna has suffered chronic progressive MS. She can't really do anything for herself and our grandparents are her main carer's. Over the years we have seen her condition worsen - some days she is too tired to eat or speak at all. She can't go out and that means our grandparent's can't go out much either. They have to look after her - this means they have missed lots of nice things like our birthday parties and school shows. It's an illness which can strike badly and affects the whole family. We are helping to raise money for this charity because we want to help other people get better. We want anyone getting diagnosed in the future to have a better chance of a full life.
The West Highland Way is a 96 mile walk from Milngavie to Fort William. We are doing it over 8 dayS during the school holidays. We are a bit worried about how far it is...and being Scotland it's bound to rain! But we hope for some sun shine and some stops for chocolate cake along the way!
We have been training over winter by doing some long 15 mile walks, from Uddingston to Carluke, and EK to Glasgow along the Clyde Walkway. (It poured both times!) We try every weekend to do one big bit of exercise. We have been hill walking - even climbed Ben Nevis! And we try to walk to school as often as we can instead of getting a lift.
We will be very proud if we can complete the walk and the more money we are raising the more motivated we will be!
