Story

Hi all!

I am raising funds for St James’ Hospital liver transplant fund which goes towards improving patient experience and for their liver research fund.

My mother is my hero and an all-round amazing person. She desperately needed a liver transplant and, after a long and difficult period of deterioration, luckily received that life-saving operation before it was too late. We will always be grateful to her donor and their family.

Caring for my mother through all of this has been an extremely challenging rollercoaster. Waiting for a transplant phone call and watching someone so precious to you deteriorate to the point where palliative care is on the table can make you feel utterly helpless. I would not wish the experience on anyone.

Before my mother fell ill, she used to love running. It is a passion we share. So I decided I wanted to set myself a series of big running challenges that scare me in order to raise money for liver research and the liver transplant fund. The funds will help support future liver transplant patients and assist research advances in this field as the liver is a very complex organ!

So... THE CHALLENGE!

Throughout this year (2018), I will be completing my #liverrunning challenge. This consists of:

- Running at least 1000km in 2018
- My first trail race
- My first sub-2hr half marathon
- My first double race weekend
- My first six hour multi-lap event
- My first 20 mile race
- My first marathon
- My first ultra-marathon
- My first 24 hour endurance event (completed in relay form as I can’t actually run for 24 hours straight!)

In addition to the above, I am running as many races as I can to contribute towards my annual mileage target and to raise awareness of the fund.

Here is the ever-growing list of races:

Sir Titus Trot Half Marathon - 6/01/2018

Wigan 5k - 18/03/2018 (HM cancelled due to snow)
