In November 2020 Liv's Dad, Peter, was unexpectedly diagnosed with Stage 4 mesothelioma cancer following weeks of ongoing cold symptoms. As an incredibly healthy and active person (Who had previously run the London marathon several times!), the diagnosis left myself and the whole family in complete shock.
Very quickly after the diagnosis, The Royal Marsden provided hugely invaluable specialist treatment to attempt to slow down Dad's cancer. After various treatments and attempts to battle the mesothelioma, Dad sadly lost his fight despite showing cancer his incredible strength and passed away in June 2021. To this day The Royal Marsden continues to provide treatment to others close to my heart and has been able to stop the spread of cancer and make the future seem a lot more positive for the lives affected.
Because of the incredible treatment, The Royal Marsden provides day in and out, Meg and I are raising funds by running the London Landmarks Half Marathon in April 2023 for The Royal Marsden, a world-leading cancer centre so that they can continue to provide invaluable life-saving treatment to those living with cancer which are used across the UK and around the world. From funding state-of-the-art equipment and groundbreaking research to creating the very best patient environments. They are constantly looking for ways to improve the lives of people affected by cancer and continue the amazing work they do.
