At the end of May, we are joining a team of around 30 artists, photographers and creative industry insiders on a trek to the summit of Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa and the Arab World.
This is going to be our first ever trek, first time outside of Europe, and our first time raising a substantial amount for a charity. We're so glad that it will be to raise money for the amazing cancer charity Trekstock. The goal is for the trek participants to raise a combined £60,000.
Trekstock, provides wide ranging support to young adults facing all types of cancer around the UK. 34 young adults in their 20s and 30s are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK. Trekstock delivers practical and social support programmes tailored to their needs, to give them a better chance of living well through and beyond cancer. Through exercise support, practical advice and an active online and offline community, our programmes tackle social isolation, improve quality of life and provide young adults with the tools they need to get moving again after cancer puts their life on hold.
We first found out about Trekstock last year through an event with Lauren Mahon of 'Girl vs Cancer', a fundraiser for the charity. We were really touched and inspired by her story of her diagnosis as a young adult, and how she now campaigns to change the dialogue surrounding cancer to make it authentic and accessible for young people. Her vision for how young people fighting cancer can still be active, strong, and inspiring is what Trekstock is all about. Seeing what a force for change she is and how much she achieved despite her diagnosis gives us hope that charities like Trekstock can really transform lives of young people with cancer.
We are asking for any donation you can afford! Big or small it will be greatly appreciated and help us towards our target :)
