Story
In 1992, not long after we met, I was watching the London Marathon and I mentioned to Chris that I would love to run in the race. As I was a confirmed couch potato, Chris stated that he would run partially naked down Whitefriargate in Hull if I did! (not his actual words they were a bit ruder than that). It's taken 27 years for me to start running and two marathons since for me to finally get a place, thanks to my running club West Hull Ladies, and guess what Chris has a place too! We are keen not to waste this opportunity to raise some funds for a local charity close to both our hearts, Castaway in Goole.
Castaway is a fantastic charity which provides accessible music theatre for adults and young people with learning and physical disabilities and autism spectrum conditions. I first heard of Castaway when my daughter Hannah did a writing workshop with some of Castaway members. She told me how the workshop helped people, who struggled to communicate, express themselves in a way they had not been able to to before, effectively finding their voice. She showed me some of the poetry and prose they had done and quite frankly it blew me away.
