Story

For over 30 years, Pilgrims Hospice have provided end of life care and support for patients and their families. To support this tremendous charity we have joined the Pilgrims Hospice Charity bike ride on 30th April - ‘Blimey, better start training!’, covering 50 miles of the beautiful (undulating) Kent countryside.

In memory of George, and dedicated to Chris. We have a target of £500 to raise money for this amazing charity, so other families can receive care and support. Tom(Tom Scamp), Pinky(Paul Fuller) and Jed(Jed Friday) invite you to donate in anyway you can.

George - kind, genuine and fun, with the most infectious laugh, that could disarm even the most stubborn of men…he could be that too! Engaging and hard working, loved by many, a truly inspiring person. No wonder we were his mates!

Spending time with George was amazing. He made you feel instantly at ease and you knew he was on your side. With that mischievous twinkle in his eye and the genuine laughter - despite our jokes, poor quality and umpteenth delivery. George’s life was so much more than his last few years - sports mad and adventurous, he would always be on his bike or walking the hills and along shores, with Chris, Tom and Chloe following every step.

Gorgeous George, outgoing, outdoor, outrageously outstanding - as a husband, dad and friend he was simply the best.

George would not want us to be sad, but instead “get on your rusty old bike/ pump up your tyres/use a high gear up hills and shout weeeeeee…..” as you speed down the other side (hoping your breaks still work). He would remind you that the reason your saddle keeps sliding down the pole is because gravity is stronger now - not because of the extra weight your bike is having to carry! He would add that, your cycling shorts have probably shrunk in the wash - that happens when you are older! But he would definitely tell us to have fun, be kind and live well, in every moment.
