We provide children's hospice care to children and families across Sussex

Story

We are running London’s Big Half Marathon to raise money for The Chestnut Tree House appeal, and my brave boy, Miki. Thank you for visiting our page.

My son Miki is a sweet, wonderful, loving little boy. He is the bravest boy I have ever met.

Born prematurely at just 30 weeks, he needed ventilation and intensive care. After a week, he started to breathe by himself - and we tried every therapy to help his development. Each day he grew stronger and stronger, but nothing worked.

When Miki was around 10 months old, the epileptic fits arrived. We were devastated. Miki was diagnosed with spastic cerebral palsy, West syndrome and visual difficulties. He can’t walk or talk. But despite all of this, he is a bright, smiley boy – and he brings happiness to our family every day.

Sadly, last summer we received more devastating news. It was cancer. Doctor’s found a tumour in Miki’s right kidney, and he would have to go through chemotherapies, surgery and so much more.

And throughout it all? He was so brave. Even in the worst moments. He was the bravest of all of us. Because Miki is a warrior. And he never gives up.

Now, Miki doing well. He is, once again, a healthy, happy, lovely child – teaching us every day what is really important in life. We still face a lot of challenges; he is waiting for gastronomy and more surgery, but with Miki’s bravery, and the help of our friends at Chestnut Tree House, we hope for a bright future.

Chestnut Tree is a hospice for children like Miki, and their families. But it’s not only that. It’s a place you know people are always ready to help. Where you feel like somebody really cares. With Chestnut Tree House, you are never alone in your problems. There’s always a hand to hold, someone to help you through.

Here, Miki loves to play and spend time with his sister; he loves the swimming pool and having a beautiful time. Here, we have met many people with big hearts. And now I hope to help them in return.

On 4th March, my friend Bianca and I will run The Big Half Marathon, hoping to raise £2000 for Chestnut Tree House. If you can, please donate. It will be amazing support for the hospice, its hardworking staff and the on-going care for all the inspiring children that stay there.

And, of course, for my son Miki. The bravest boy I have ever met.
