Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
In April 2020, during the first lockdown of the Covid-19 pandemic, we nearly lost our Grandma to a massive bleed on the brain caused by a grade 4 glioblastoma brain tumour. Through the wonderful work of NHS hospitals, cancer specialists, surgeons, and community nurses, Grandma is still here today. It can feel that she is a walking miracle. All of this is only possible due to the invaluable research into brain rumours that has gone before. We are raising money for Brain Tumour Research so that they can continue their work, leading to more saved lives and improved quality of life for those living with brain tumours.
34 people are diagnosed with brain tumours every day in the UK alone. We are litter picking every day from 1st November to 4th December - 34 days, to represent those 34 daily diagnoses.
So why litter picking? During the pandemic we could only support each other from a distance and outside. The outdoors became our meeting space, and a relief for us to play. We want to look after our environment like it looked after us.
Grandma is a warrior and an inspiration: A terminal prognosis. Surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy. A brief relief and break. More surgery, more chemotherapy. And through all this, she keeps on caring about us, being positive, and being our amazing Grandma.
Thank you for supporting us xx
Love from, Alfie, Holly, Heath and River xxxx
