Story
Maisie's Star Tribute Fund has raised a huge amount of money so far for Bristol Children's Hospital in memory of Maisie - our daughter/sister/friend who died in November 2013. The Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Bristol Children's Hospital cared so tenderly and professionally for Maisie and we are eternally grateful for their care and support - both of Maisie and of us, her family. We - and so many friends and family - have fundraised successfully for a portable life support machine (£25,000) and a new brain wave monitor (£20,000) - and the fundraising continues! The next priority on PICU's wishlist is a Babytherm. This is a special bed used to nurse critically ill babies - it provides servo-control heating from below and above to keep the infant warm after open heart surgery or brain operations. This helps to provide the unit with the best possible thermal environment for the infant which increases their chance of survival and the quality of outcome, particularly in tiny babies. The cost of one of these is approximately £9,000. Thank you so much for your support.
