I chose Diabetes UK as my Mayoral Charity because a very good friend of mine died from Diabetes after battling against it for some 56 years. During my term as Mayor I have been seeking to raise awareness and promote a healthy lifestyle as a result of which I have managed to shed around one and a half stones - a most unusual event for a Mayor during his term of office.
