Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

Gobi March 2010 - www.racingtheplanet.com

The Gobi March is a 250-kilometer (150 mile) self-supported race across the Gobi desert in China, one of the most forbidding deserts on Earth. Carrying everything I need for the 6 days including food, clothing and sleeping bag etc.

Most people that know me will not need to ask why - they just know that I have endless energy!!

Running and mountain biking are my passions - I love the outdoors.  I have wanted to compete in this challenge for quite some time.  Its only now that I have realised that there are some dreams that only ones self can fulfill.

In March I completed the Welsh 3 Peaks (Snowdon, Cadair Idris and Pen y Fan) in 5hrs 20mins (time on foot), with the help of friend Lee Davies and my husband. Not too bad considering I climbed Aran Fawddwy in Wales the day before.

On the 16th May I managed to sucessfully complete the Marlborough Downs Challenge.  20 hard miles over downlands!   I finshed 13th out of 53 ladies and loved every minute, despite the extremely strong wind and rain showers on the day.  Many thanks to the organisers for a great race!

And then there was Man V Horse!!  Race completed on Saturday 13th June.  22 miles - the hardest miles I have ever run. Crossed the line after waiting for rest of team to come in about 3 1/2 hrs smiling every minute of the way.  What a day - fantastic. Big thankyou to all those I ran with - and all the helpers on the day!!

There is so much more I wish to undertake before the Gobi next year - the adventures are endless!!

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: British Limbless Ex-Service Men's Association (Blesma) gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

I believe that the work Blesma carries out, helps to make the lives of ex-service men/women and their families more bearable.

I am currently funding the challenge myself, which in total will cost around £4000. Anyone wishing  to make a contribution towards my personal costs e-mail  millard.povey@btinternet.com - a little cheeky but I can but try!!

All contributions made via this page will go directly to Blesma.

I really appreciate all support given.

Many Thanks

Lisa
