Story

Hi!

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

On Sunday 5th October 2008, I am going to be running my first ever marathon - and it may be my last depending on how much it hurts!!  I'm running the Loch Ness Marathon and am hoping to raise a bit of money for a children's charity through my participation.

I'm collecting money for Aberlour, a national charity that works with children, young people and families.  The money that I raise will go directly to the Aberlour Unit 2 Befriending Service in Stirling - I've been a volunteer befriender with this group for over 5 and half years.  We support young people aged 8-16 from vulnerable and disadvantaged home backgrounds on a 1-1 basis to help improve their self confidence, self-esteem and general wellbeing.  We do this in various ways, one of which is by engaging our young people in various social activities, many of which they wouldn't have the opportunity to do if it wasn't for the Befriending Service.   As any money that I raise will come directly to this project at my request, I will see the benefit of where your money will go first hand.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Aberlour Child Care Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So if you would like to sponsor me a pound or two, that would be a great help. Any support you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for taking the time to check out my page!

About the charity

1 in 4 children are living in poverty in Scotland. That isn’t right. Not all children are born with an equal chance. We know that by working together we will beat poverty and discrimination. With your help, we will reach more children and their families earlier, before it’s too late.
