Story
At Legacy Community Health, we believe our patients should be healthy in body and mind, and we're promoting that through Legacy's Little Readers. When youngsters from birth to 12-years old come in for their well-child visits, they get a free book, and pediatric providers give the entire family a "prescription to read".
Reading aloud with young children from birth builds new connections in the brain, stimulating early language learning and instilling their motivation to learn. Sadly, 60 percent of Houston children don't have reading readiness skills when they enter kindergarten.
I work at Legacy and I've seen how excited children are when they get their books. Parents tell us their kids want them to read to them before bed. For as little as $1 a book, you can help us build home libraries and open new worlds! Thank you for your consideration and support.
