Story
Having lost my beautiful mum to cancer three years ago, after a 4 year battle, I have decided to take on this mighty challenge!
Seeing one of the most precious people face the biggest challenge of their life and gradually slip away in front of you made this an easy decision. From the initial diagnosis back in 2014, Macmillan Cancer unit offered the best medical care with amazing nurses and calm, welcoming centres.
Having lost my dad when I was four years old my mum worked tirelessly to bring both my brother and I up. Financially, things were a juggling act and at the age of 67 this was no different. Macmillan’s financial support was invaluable. Taking this financial worry away through what was a devastating time helped beyond words.
Having made a promise to myself that I would keep my mum’s memory alive, especially for my two boys who had the best Nanna in the world, I take on this challenge. Sadly, their time was cut short and my youngest never really got to know his Nanna and what an amazing, strong, kind person she was. Let’s hope that this challenge helps to keep that memory going whilst also supporting those people who are fighting this cruel disease today. Fingers crossed that, with continued fund raising, we can find a cure for this cruel disease. Let’s make this happen by giving what you can.
