Story

Martin and I met in Paris a long time ago! We have decided to run the Paris Marathon on 8th April, hopefully we will be buoyed up by all the beautiful sights. This is Martin's first and last marathon (and my last too, definitely....).

If possible, we would love to raise some money for two charities we are closely involved with.

The Kivuli Trust is a fanastic charity providing a much needed safe haven and hostel for vulnerable, disabled children (mental and physical) in Gilgil, Kenya. We have personal contacts with the amazing people who run and support this charity and we sponsor two of the children there. For more information, see http://kivulitrust.org/

Our other chosen charity is the local NSPCC Peterborough business support group which raises money for the service centre there and provides a vital support network for young and vulnerable children in a wide radius covering Cambs, Northants, Lincs and Leics. Any funds would go directly to this local branch.

Thank you for any donation you would be kind enough to give to either or both charities.

Kivuli Trust (‘kivuli’ meaning shelter in Kiswahili) builds hostels and classrooms on the premises of existing schools in East Africa specifically for children with physical and mental disabilities. Our projects allow for small class sizes where these children will be given the attention that they deserve. The hostels negate the need for long daily journeys to and from the schools and provides the children with a more stable learning environment. Most importantly our projects allow for integration with other school children which provides invaluable disability awareness and understanding at a young age that can then filter back into the wider community.
