Well, I was going to take part in the team challenge to just do the 5km run - however, after attending the #TeamHelen launch party then I've been inspired to complete the whole thing! This consists of a 400m swim, 23km bike ride & 5km run.

Mad, crazy or just blooming idiotic - who knows, but I'm going to give it a bloody good shot

In my madness I have also decided to complete ten 10k runs before the triathlon.

I have chosen to support Cancer Research as I have lost various family members to cancer. In addition to this my uncle has prostate cancer which is currently being controlled by medication and his wife (my aunt) has breast cancer.

My other Aunt underwent an operation a week before Christmas for bowel cancer and ended up having 1/3 of her bowel removed. She was allowed home on New Year's Eve and  was recovering well. However she has since undergone further tests and was found to have lung cancer which she has had an operation for and again starting her recovery process.

Therefore, this is close to my heart and when you see the people you love suffering and you can't physically do anything for them except support them as best as you can it's hard and personal.

Therefore, this is my way of doing 'something'.
