Story
As many of you know, Mum and I lost Dad to Covid in April of last year ... but as many of you also know, our story started 5 years earlier when Alzheimer's took hold ... a brutal few years with a very sad conclusion for Dad, us and so many other vulnerable individuals.
Every three minutes someone in the UK is told they have dementia, and there is no cure ... there is also HUGE disparity in the diagnosis and support services that families have access to. We know I am not shy in coming forward but, at times, it felt like a maze of dead ends where services are fragmented and scarce.
We are in a race to defeat dementia, and so I am trying to do just a something small by taking part in London Winter (now Summer!) Walk.
I'm hoping to raise vital funds for another charity that's struggled over the last 18 months - take part in something I know Dad would have enjoyed - and burn some calories over the half marathon walk that earn me a well deserved G&T at the end!
Anything you can donate will go direct to Alzheimer's ... and will earn a huge smile from me!
