Story
Having spent my whole career in travel, I'm so sad to see so many people and companies impacted by the consequences of this pandemic. I've met so many lovely people, and made my best friends in travel through the years. The industry is always challenging, but it is resilient, tough, ever changing and has fun, passion & people at it's heart. I'd like to raise money to help support those people really sadly impacted, and hope we can start to see an end in sight & a bounce back soon.
My running record is one half marathon so far, so I'm going to push myself a bit harder this time, and see if I can manage 16.3 miles for the Metric Marathon. Plus it's in Chester so not only will it be a really beautiful run, but hoping I'll get people to either join me on the run & fundraise, and at least see some friends & friendly faces on the day.
Travel Weekly and Abta LifeLine have teamed up to launch a charity appeal to support those in the travel industry whose lives have been adversely impacted by the Covid-19 crisis. The TravelCares campaign will raise essential funds to allow Abta LifeLine to help those who have lost their jobs or are facing other hardships as a result of the pandemic. Please donate whatever you can. It will make a big difference to the lives of many.£50 will give a family an essential food shop, £50 will pay for a colleague to go through our redeployment scheme (to help until travel fully recovers and opportunities open up again), £100 will give someone the expert debt, benefit and housing advice they may need and £300 will provide vital mental health support. But LifeLine does so much more. From crisis grants, to helping with priority bills (rent, utilities), providing essential household appliances to buying school uniform, we tailor our support to meet the needs of the individual or family.
