Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Scott ran his first marathon (London) in 2011 and that's really what started us both running. I started running a year after him and since them I've completed 3 half marathons. The first words that I utter when I finish is 'there's no way I could run a marathon'. But then there are things in life that make you address your limits. And for me it's two simply amazingly fantastic ladies!
Scott on the other hand has just got more and more into this crazy running malarky and has now completed 6 marathons and 3 ultra-marathons. This year Scott is taking on his biggest challenges to-date the crazy hilly (20,000ft of climbing!) Transvulcania ultra marathon in May and West Highland Way in June - a mere 95 miles through the Highlands of Scotland!
This year we're both running for MS as it is a charity that's very personal to us both. My (Lisa) work colleague Jennie was diagnosed with MS in her late teens but she doesn't let MS define her. I've worked with Jennie for almost 2 years and until a few of months ago when she abseiled off of the Forth Railway Bridge to raise money for the MS Society most of our colleagues didn't know she had MS. But you wouldn't know as she's just so busy living her life, but of course she is human and MS does impact her on a daily basis. MS is a serious illness and it makes most days more of a challenge than any of us would care to consider. But if Jennie can do what she does daily surely I can run 26.2 miles, eh?
And then there's the second amazing lady. One of our best friends Zoe was diagnosed with MS in May 2015. I never thought when I submitted my name into the ballot for London I'd end up running for my best friend. (Zoe has run the London marathon before so she's giving me no sympathy!) But so soon after diagnosis she's doing an amazing job of adjusting to life with MS and just like Jennie - getting on with life and enjoying it!
So you've probably got the gist of this, I'm not just running for MS to get a place in London Marathon. We're both fundraising as this charity really is close to our hearts and I hope we can raise at least £2000 to help search for a cure and more effective treatments. There is no cure for MS. Please help me help the MS Society to beat MS.
