Thank you for taking time to visit my page. It means a lot to me that you have done this, and will do so for my chosen charity
Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
Many of you will know that this is actually my 3rd attempt at even getting to the start line of the Great North Run - the previous 2 attempts were prevented by as much drama and injury as Holby City.
So why am I doing this? Well one of my best friends died of breast cancer aged 33, nearly 3 years ago. Vanessa was the most vivacious Aussie you could ever meet (and there's a lot of lively ones out there to compete with!). She bore her illness with such a positive and inspirational desire to live life to the full that I wanted to do something that would raise funds for this deserving cause and also keep her memory alive for those of us who knew her.
My beneficiary is Breakthrough Breast Cancer who undertake and publish world class research and also campaign and educate. In the last month they have made important discoveries and a study released by National Office of Statistics this month has shown that the survival rate of all cancers, including breast cancer, is increasing for one year post-diagnosis. This is excellent news and donations play a large part in making this happen.
Santander has agreed to match whatever I raise and therefore please do not feel obliged in any way during these difficult times, whatever you can add is fine, and don't feel you have to share the amount. And if money is tight then just your positive thoughts will be of help!
Once again, thank you for visiting this page. Love to you all.
