Story

I started running about 6 years ago, from going out on my first agonising run,  within 6 months I was standing with hundreds of other runners on a freezing, snowy, windy February morning in Redcar ready to start my first half marathon. I completed this race under 2 hours and raised money for the Great North Air Ambulance, I was over the moon but swore that I would never do it again but 8 months later there I was in Newcastle ready to start the Great North Run, then I realised I was a running addict.  I thrived on the challange ahead, unless you have done something like this you cant explain the emotions you feel when crossing that finishing line.  I continued each year running the Great North run, for different charities but decided the biggest challange I needed was to  complete  the London Marathon, 26.2  grueling miles.  I began my training last July and have been pushing myself all the way, if you live in Hartlepool you may of seen me pounding the streets.  As this is such a challenge for me or anyone to endure I wanted to raise money for a deserving charity and thats why I chose Macmillan Support.  They are a charity that improves the lives of people affected by cancer.  They are a source of support, providing practical, medical, emotional and financial support.  One in three of us will get cancer.  Two million are living with it.  Me running 26 miles is nothing compared to what this charity does to help people.  Any donation will help, £10 will pay for 20 copies of Cancer Guide.  This is given to recently diagnosed with cancer to help them understand, £24 could pay for Macmillan Physiotherapist for an hour, £100 could enable the Macmillan Benefits helpline help people affected by cancer claim benefits which they are entitled, £350 could pay for a much needed convalescent break for someone with cancer and their carer and £918 could fund a Macmillan nurse for working week.  If you are reading this you will probably be sponsering me for this charity, and I just want to say a personal THANKYOU  to you all.  I have currently raised £350 pounds worth of sponsership and hope with your help by April 25th it will be alot more.
