Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society at Oldwell Court, Penylan, CARDIFF.

I'm taking part in this cycle ride in memory of a very special lady, my mum Rosemary Allen who sadly passed away on 18th June 2010.  I'm hoping to raise lots of money for the Alzheimer's Society who are such a worthy charity but unfortunately don't have the same high profile as some other charities. 

This doesn't mean they don't do equally valuable work though. My experience of the Alzheimer's Society branch based in Oldwell Court, Penylan was unforgettable.  Not only did they support my Mum, but they helped me deal with her sometimes challenging behaviour and listened to me when I was at my lowest ebb.  

As a token of my gratitude and also to pay homage to my dear Mum's own determined streak(!)... I've put all my energy into training for this 200 mile cycle ride over two days to raise money to help carers like me and most importantly, the sufferers of this cruel illness.  Money raised will go towards supporting those with the early onset form of the disease which can be particularly devastating for those with young/teenage children.

 My Mum Rosie meant so many things to so many people.  She was a loving, protective Mother, a doting Nannie; a fun loving, loyal friend and a respected colleague. A woman who worked relentlessly to provide for her children and to stand up for those unable to stand up for themselves. In short my mum cared she really cared .

I know she would approve of me trying to live with her loss by absorbing myself in a worthy project like this.  I will be 'digging deep' to succeed in such a gruelling challenge, but hopefully, you won't mind 'DIGGING DEEP' in a different way to make it worthwhile in memory of such a lovely lady who was also my very best friend...
