Story

The running backstory

In 2005, I ran the Winsor Half marathon with physio colleagues, and haven't really done any running since. That was until last year when I found the fabulous London City Runners. I've been running weekly with this crew and somehow found myself signed up for the 2022 Big Half.

The Edward Showler Foundation

Ed Showler was a friend who sadly died from metastatic clear cell sarcoma in 2017. His parents (Ellie and John) set up a foundation to:

  • fund research into this rare cancer,
  • support memory days for young adults with serious illness, and
  • improve clinician-patient communication related to cancer.

I'm running the 2022 Big Half on Sunday 4th September in support of The Edward Showler Foundation. My personal challenge is to be no slower than I was in 2005...

More details on the foundation can be found on their website: www.edwardshowlerfoundation.com

Update

I completed the half marathon and managed to run faster than my 24 year old self! Many thanks to everyone for your support. Your donations mean a lot to The Edward Showler Foundation.
