Great North Run 2015 · 13 September 2015 ·

For 45 years we’ve led the way in supporting autistic and neurodivergent individuals, and their families, across the North East of England. We work to create a society where autism is understood and accepted, inclusion is the norm, and autistic people can lead fulfilled lives.

#unfittofitin130days

On Sunday 3rd May I ran the Sunderland 10k (my first ever 10k). The weather was horrendous, winds and driving rain which made the route extremely challenging, both mentally and physically. Having only ever trained indoors on a treadmill, and not to any great extent, it's made me realise I am SO unfit and has spurred me to take action!

For those of you who know me well, I last did the GNR in 2010 (well, it's the one and only time I've done the GNR and it was the start and end of my running career to be fair!!) and at the end I didn't know which part of me hurt the most!  So I'm back in 2015, 5 years older and not so wiser, to take on the challenge again.  I'll keep you informed of my progress!  Who knows, I could even be running the London marathon next year!

13th September GNR

20th September NEAS Run the Spectrum 5k

27th September Muddy Mayhem

So the reason why I'm doing this, is not just to get fit but  to raise funds for the North East Autism Society and  raise awareness of autism.  It's a charity close to my heart, not only because I happen to work there, but because in the last 2 years I have had the privilege to meet and work with some of the most amazing people.

I'm so grateful for your sponsorship, be it £1 or £10, every £ raised will help to provide vital therapy support sessions and toddler group sessions for individuals and their parents / carers throughout the North East region.   As it's the Charity's 35th anniversary this year it would be fabulous if I can achieve my target of £150.  Thank you, your support is hugely appreciated.
