Story
We are each riding100km between the 13th and 21st February 2021 in aid of the Youth Adventure Trust. Like many others, the vulnerable children supported by the Youth Adventure Trust, have faced a challenging year - their problems haven't disappeared just because of Covid. We've been inspired to take on the Virtual Resilience Challenge to build our resilience and raise as much money as the kilometers we are covering so that vulnerable young people can build their resilience too. Your support will not only spur us on to complete the challenge but every penny of your sponsorship money will go towards supporting vulnerable 11-15 year olds through the pandemic and beyond.
We saw the resilience challenge from The Youth Adventure Trust as a great opportunity to get out and about during the February half term with some purpose behind it. The boys chose the 100kms cycle each of us over half term and match the same amount for a very worthy cause.
We got straight to it on a cold Day 1 cycling around Sherford, the town being built on the edge of Plymouth. Day 2 the weather warmed up and the rain arrived seeing us do a muddy, windy, wet ride on a section of the Plymbridge Trail. We got soaked but managed to cover 16kms. Day 3, a dry day took us down to the water at Oreston Quay and back. Day 4, after a wet morning there was a sudden break in the weather, so we did the full Plymbridge trail to Clearbrook. Stopping off at Ashley’s bench to take in the view and wildlife. This ride gave us our longest distance at 20kms. Day 5, weather was atrocious, we had a rest day!
Day 6, the sunshine came out. We had an urban ride to Plymouth Hoe along the SW coastal path, stopping to enjoy takeaway chips on the Barbican! Now up to 70kms and the weather is looking grim! To complete this challenge we will carry on checking the weather forecast and fuelled by homemade flapjacks we will head out shortly to add some distance. Your sponsorship is greatly appreciated to keep us going to reach our target 🚴🚴🚴🚴❤️❤️❤️❤️🌧🌦🌧🌦
