Story
When Esme was born we thought she was a normal healthy little girl and brought her home to her brothers and sisters. When she was 3 weeks old she was struggling to breathe- her lips were blue and her head was bobbing with each breath. Kev (her daddy) noticed she wasn’t quite right so spoke to NHS direct who sent an ambulance for her and she was taken to Stevenage hospital!
Whilst at Stevenage they did tests and a paediatrician found a heart murmur- Esme actually had severe aortic stenosis and was the next day blue lighted to the Royal Brompton for an emergency catheter procedure.
The procedure went well but we were back in hospital repeating the catheter 6 months later. Esme was under the care of the Royal Brompton for 3 years, and in that 3 years she had spent over 3 months in the Royal Brompton.
Whilst in the Royal Brompton the families and children are supported by the Brompton Fountain who go above and beyond to make hard times that little bit better!, whether it be with gifts at Christmas, Easter eggs or just some toiletries when that is the last thing on your mind!
Soooo Joline and myself are taking part in the inflatable 5K on the 6 April to say thank you for everything and to give a little something back.
