I started swimming more seriously after I had breast cancer, mainly to recover from treatment but also because research suggests being active reduces the risk of cancer significantly so it’s a way of taking back some control too! Last year I completed the 100 length MySwimathon challenge and really enjoyed it so I signed up to do it again. Me and Martin are also going to walk the West Highland Way. Originally planned in March.
Well Covid messed up the plan but we will (hopefully) be starting our walk on Saturday now. Plan is to do the Swimathon when we get back!
A few people asked if I was doing it for a cause but it’s just something I wanted to do. However if anyone would like to sponsor me for completing both Challenges I would be delighted! (All costs of WHW are covered by us already and all money raised will be split between Marie Curie and Cancer ResearchUK)
Cancer Research UK, the world’s leading cancer charity is dedicated to saving lives through funding research to help prevent, diagnose and treat cancer. Cancer Research UK are the only charity fighting over 200 cancer types but don't receive any government funding for their work, so their progress is all thanks to the support of people like you.
Marie Curie provides expert care, guidance and support for people living with any terminal illness, and their families. Around 2,100 Marie Curie Nurses work day and night, in people’s homes all over the UK, providing hands-on care to people when they need it most.
