Story
Four years after my husband Colin's fatal car accident, I'm getting the opportunity to meet the actual team of professionals again from the Great Western Air Ambulance.
When they were called out on 19th Sept 2012, they attended the call within 12 minutes.
Not only did they deal with the aftermath of the accident itself, but when I went out to the scene to help and realised after a short time that it was actually my own husband who'd been killed, I went into shock and they dealt with me as well. Now I have the opportunity, albeit 4 years later, to personally thank them for their swift response, kindness to me and their sheer professionalism.
The GWAA relies PURELY on donations and has no funding from government or the lottery, and staff offer their time voluntarily. I was humbled to spend some time with 2 of them on Thursday at the Bristol Balloon fiesta and it got me thinking......
At Colin's funeral we raised £1,330.81 in donations for this charity.
When I attend the centre in a few weeks time, I would love to be able to present them with a little more money donated from friends and family in remembrance of Colin, 4 years on.
So if you remember Colin, or even if you never met him, I'm hoping you will be kind enough to donate a small amount to this wonderful charity.
You never know if you might need them in the future
