Story
May 2021 is national walking month, so I am taking on the 70 Miles in May challenge for Independent Arts, an Isle of Wight charity founded in 1987, using the arts to improve wellbeing, quality of life and to reduce social isolation. It's a great excuse to get outside and get active, as well as raising some money for a great island charity along the way!
You can support me by donating to my page, joining me on a walk, or even setting up your own fundraising page and joining the challenge! I'm supporting Independent Arts because I have the privilege of seeing first hand how impactful the arts based activities are to the wellbeing of the participants.
I became chief executive of this charity in December 2019 and am so proud of the team that work with me to make everything happen. We have come through the past year in good shape despite the challenges and now by taking the lead, I hope many others will learn about and support this amazing little Island charity.
We want to be able to reach many more people once restrictions allow, we have a fantastic new home in Newport but we badly need the sort of extra funding that we can all raise, which can be spent on exactly what is needed to help more people straight away.
Thank you!
Lisa
