Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
So, I've decided to take the plunge! I'm swimming the length of the English Chanel over 12 weeks. In reality this means I'm committing to swimming 50 lengths of my local pool 3 times a week, for 12 weeks. I started my challenge on the 5th October and it will be completed on Christmas week.
I've 2 reasons for taking on this challenge. One is to get fit again. The other is to raise some money for the brilliant charity that is York Against Cancer. It's a cause that is close to my heart. My Dad (AKA Kev, AKA GD (Grandad)) is battling bowel & liver cancer for the 2nd time. Having been originally diagnosed in October 2017, he had surgery and chemotherapy. Summer 2018 saw Dad get the all clear. Unfortunately though, routine checks in October 2019, revealed that the cancer had returned. Despite this Dad has been pretty well for the last year but the time has come now for further treatment and therefore Dad has recommenced chemo. Dad has been an absolute inspiration throughout all of this with his positive attitude, incredible courage and of course (anyone who knows my old man will agree)...his humour! York Against Cancer are an amazing charity supporting people around York in these difficult circumstances including respite breaks at Filey and Whitby for families to spend some quality and invaluable time together.
Please help me to raise some money for this charity and to give my Dad a boost too that I know will help him when things aren't easy. He'll love seeing any messages that you leave for him!
Thank you so much in advance, Lisa xx
