Story
Thank you for visiting my page!
I am raising much needed funds for the Bedford & Biggleswade branch of Cats Protection, to enable them to continue the amazing work they do.
In October 2016 I will be travelling to Zambia to take part in the Zambezi River Challenge - 3 days of canoeing up to 28km a day in very hot weather, avoiding hippos, crocodiles and bull sharks. We'll be camping on the river bank at night, then visiting an ALERT (African Lion & Environmental Research Trust) lion sanctuary, getting involved with tasks such as snare sweeping to protect the lions from poaching, raw meat preparation, cub feeding and enclosure cleaning. This will also involve preparing & delivering a lesson for local children around the importance wildlife conservation, particularly in areas such as theirs where people live alongside these amazing animals.
Whilst getting close to the big cats will be a dream come true, I think we all know how I feel about heat, exercise, handling meat, camping and makeshift toilets. So please donate anything you can; funds raised are going to the Bedford & Biggleswade branch of Cats Protection, to help with the vital work they do for the welfare of the lions' little cousins in the UK. Overall I will be contributing around £800 of my own money towards the trip, plus paying for all visas, vaccinations and kit needed.
Over the next year I will be organising a variety of events to raise money for this project, so keep an eye on this page or on Facebook for updates and invitations to some exciting stuff! And if you want to know anything more about the trip please just ask.
