Story

Hi all

I have created this page on behalf of my 8 year old son. He has asked if he can do this with me to raise money for this organisation and to try and help children and people in our situation.

Some or most of you may or may not know that in March 2023 our lives changed over night. Without any rhyme reason or prior warning my partner suffered a stroke which has affected his speech, reading, spelling and writing. This has also left him with debilitating head aches and exhaustion that can dictate how he lives his life. At the age of just 52 you don’t ever expect to go through something like this and go from being able to hold a normal conversation to not being able to tell your children you love them or wish them good night over night.

This has had a huge affect on both myself as a partner mother and human being and my partner himself. He has had his confidence knocked in a way no one could ever explain and he has now become more reliant than ever on me his children and his family. However, being the resilient person he is, he refuses to give in or give up.

However, the biggest impact this has had overall has been our children. Whilst Sam is not old enough to really know any different and is able to adjust, , Jack our oldest (8) has experienced something you would never want your child to experience. He was woken up in the early hours of the morning and told his dad had to go to hospital and we didn’t know why or what would happen or when he would be home. He has also had to learn to adapt to not being able to speak at the same time as his Daddy and needing to be patient when he is trying to speak. This can result in him apologising for this - something no 8 year old child should have to do. He has had to help his dad read messages, communicate to people and learn to adjust to having Daddy around but not always able to do things. He’s learnt to have to adjust to an ever changing situation and to know that Daddy will be ok. He’s just finding things tough. However, he is a trooper and is an inspiration to us all!

So this September , I will be walking 50 miles with Jack to raise money because stroke survivors need our support.

During our challenge month, 8,640 strokes will cause devastation to families across the UK. But, together, our contribution can make a positive impact, whether you donate £5 or £50. Every penny counts.Stroke Association's vision is for there to be fewer strokes, and for people affected by stroke to get the help they need to live the best life they can.

Thanks in advance for your support and for reading our page ❤️
