Story
I am fundraising for Cats Protection Glasgow Branch. The branch is run by a small team of dedicated, unpaid volunteers who work hard in their spare time to care for and find homes for unwanted cats and kittens throughout the Glasgow area. The Branch is essentially self-sufficient, depending on donations and funds raised locally to care for the cats rescued.
Having worked with the charity via veterinary practices I know the work and dedication as well as the funding it takes to rescue, treat and rehome the cats. Cats protection also have assisted neutering schemes to help people with the cost of neutering pets and stray cats.
From 7th to 19th October 2017, I will be part of a team undertaking a four day trek through the Lesser Himalayan mountain range and spend three days assisting conservation activities in Kanha National Park to learn of the efforts being made to conserve the environment especially for tigers in this area.
The trek itself will not be easy!! No electricity, no showers and no flushing toilet, trekking from 6-9 hours a day and camping under the stars in the mountain wilderness, up to nearly 3000m high altitude. After the trek the work is not over, in Kanha National Park we get our hands dirty assisting with planting trees, weeding and other habitat maintenance to maintain the vital ecological balance in the Reserve.
All donations are greatly appreciated and make a real difference to cats in need.
