Story
It’s not exactly news that climate change is a big problem.
Snow lovers – did you know that if humans carry on as we are snow below 2000 metres will all but disappear in our lifetimes?
And you Sun Bunnies who aren’t fussed on winter, it's not just lack of snow that’s a problem. It's the wetter winters, flooding, rising sea levels, unpredictable weather and the impact these all have on communities across the world.
It’s all well and good various billionaires throwing money at ludicrous intergalactic housing solutions but we already live on a perfectly good planet if we just cleaned it up a bit.
Climate change is preventable, and Protect Our Winters do excellent work to help stop it. They apply pressure on policy makers and educate people to make changes to embrace renewable energy, electric transportation, carbon pricing policies and prevent fossil fuel extraction.
Selfishly I’m fundraising for Protect Our Winters because I want there to be snow to ski on when I’m 80, but really it’s far more important than that.
I live on top of a very big hill so over the course of July I’ll be walking up and down it until I hit 2000m in elevation as part of Save The 2000. It doesn’t sound like much but as I’m mid-way through rehab following a hip operation this will be a real challenge. Please dig deep as not only will your donations be a great investment in our planet’s future, they will also be fantastic motivation for me when that hill feels like it’s never-ending.
Thanks so much!
Linds xx
