Story
On the 12th of September I will be running the Great North Run 🏃🏼♀️
Some of you may think pfft! you run all the time Lindsay so what!
Well 15 years ago I was a reluctant spectator at the Great North Run I watched thousands of people running past, thinking..I don’t get it! … what’s the point..
Fast forward to just over 2 years ago when I first decided to put on my running shoes.. Those of you who have been kind enough to listen to me droning on about how fantastic running is and how much I have gained from my 3 little runs a week will understand that it has completely changed my life and view on running!
To the point where I have the opportunity to take part in the great North run!
Yes it’s a distance I’ve run before and yes I’m certain I’ll be able to complete it!
However this plays a small part in some bigger challenges I have set myself this year. (Aside from a new job!!)
I aim to run at least 5k every week, a 10k every month and a 1/2 marathon every 3 months.
I have also signed up to complete the London virtual Marathon on the 3rd of October.
Don’t worry I’m not asking for sponsorship for all these events!
I have been lucky to gain my Great North run and York 10k place through York and Scarborough teaching hospitals charity and thus have committed to raising £375 for the charity, I have nominated that the money be spent in the department where I work.
Thank you for your support.
York Teaching Hospital Charity is making a real difference in our local hospitals- making patients, relatives and visitors feel better and providing a level of care that is beyondthat which NHS funding alone could deliver.Patients receiving treatment now and in the future at York Hospital, Scarborough Hospital, Malton Hospital, Bridlington Hospital, New Selby War Memorial Hospital, St Helen's & White Cross Court Rehabilitation Hospitals and St Monica’s in Easingwold will all benefit from money raised. Thank you .
