Highland Cross 2018 · 23 June 2018 ·

Highland Cross is a 50 mile duathlon (walking or running 20 miles and cycling 30 miles) across Scotland from Kintail to Beauly. The event is organised by volunteers to raise funds for charities across the Highlands. Since 1983, over £6.3m has been raised and distributed in full to deserving causes.

Story

We all love a challenge and a bit of exercise so decided to enter the Highland Cross!

It's a wonderful event which has been going for over thirty years, raising money for local Highland charities. This year the charities they are raising money for are: The Highland Hospice, Blythswood Care, Abriachan Forest Trust, MS Therapy Centre and Skye and Lochalsh Mental Health Association.

The beauty of the event is that all monies raised go directly towards helping individuals and those that need it most.

If you aren't familiar with the event, the run begins in Kintail in the west Highlands and takes you off-road for 20 miles through the Five Sister of Kintail, which is a series of mountains that comprise three Munros. We changeover to the bikes at Glen Affric and cycle thirty miles on the road to Beauly in the east Highlands.

Thanks for reading and giving and wish us luck!
