Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my Page. It means so much.

The picture on my page is my Grandad, "Pop" as he likes to be called.

He was a boxer, a runner, an award winning gardener, never kept still unless he was sun bathing or off on his hols to his fave destination Benidorm! 🌞 Then one day seemingly out of nowhere he became unwell and although his body recovered his mind never made it out.

My mum has had to visit Pop on bad days and good, where he didn't know who she was and days when he would, and he would say something or make her laugh and she would know that he was still there inside all of that confusion. She finds herself looking after him and making decisions that a daughter should never have to make for their parent. Things that he would never dream of asking anybody to do for him because he was so independent.

Without seeing it first hand you will never understand how heartbreaking this illness is, not just for those diagnosed but for the families who have to come to terms as this being part of their lives.

Seeing the other residents, some that don't have visitors that seem trapped in their own little world is so sad.

Every penny of what I raise will go towards helping the people who cannot ask for it. So they get the support that they deserve.

Your support is appreciated, thank you x
