Linda like many other people has found this year incredibly difficult. It has been with the support of Deafblind UK that Linda and others with vision and hearing loss have found the support to navigate the new "normal". Pre Covid Linda would meet regularly with her local Deafblind social group in Clacton, where she would get to meet and chat with others who have similar interests, similar challenges and form a new group of friends. With lockdown came the closure of all social groups which for many people were their only link to others. 

Whilst Linda still had the support of Deafblind UK, through wellbeing calls and regular contact, she and the others greatly missed the interaction the social group offered them all, as well as the friendship and support.  Sadly, during lockdown one of the members of the Deafblind UK Clacton group passed away. With no possibility of celebrating that members life, Linda came up with another way to both "give back" for the support she has received and also to honour her friend. 

Linda decided to take on the challenge of a 10k steps a day walk in March. We all know how much exercise is important to our wellbeing so this is a way for Linda to give herself a healthy challenge, help support Deafblind UK and also raise funds for a memorial to celebrate her friends life when we are able to do so.
