Story
Canine Concern Scotland Trust operates and manages the Therapet service where volunteers and their assessed dogs/cats visit people in a variety of locations to provide support and comfort during times of physical or mental stress.
Skye has been visiting hospitals, care homes & schools in his role as a Therapet for over 5 years now. As the owner and handler of Skye, I also visit as a volunteer. Presently, all visits are suspended because of Corona Virus. We are hoping to raise much appreciated donations by taking part in this Virtual Charity Walk organised by Canine Concern Scotland Trust, the charity which provide this service.
PLEASE SUPPORT US - Skye is now 9 years old and sometimes is reluctant to walk too far. However, he is ALWAYS ready to provide a hug and cuddle to anyone who may need it! He has been a joy to us - we got him as a rescue dog at 1 year old and he was quite a challenge at the start. Now he is a gentle & loving pet, with a particular fondness for children (favourite setting is a primary school!) and a liking for ‘chewies’, which are dental chews for dogs.
Skye is a regular visitor to Primary Schools, where the program - ‘Reading with Dogs’ assists children giving them confidence in their school work and personal skills. The difference in the confidence levels of the children who participate can be clearly seen from week 1 - the visits span 6 weeks, at the end of which, both teachers and parents are amazed !
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, we so much appreciate it! This is a wonderful service offered free of charge to hospitals, schools and care homes.
