Why We Need Help
Since breast cancer affects so many individuals and their families, people have been incredibly generous in their support of breast cancer research. Unfortunately, only a small portion of donations to other breast cancer charities are used to fund research for triple negative breast cancer (TNBC). Treatment of this form of breast cancer has therefore not progressed far enough and funds are desperately needed to bring us closer to finding a cure.
About TNBC
Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) accounts for 10-15% of diagnosed breast cancers and is one of the most aggressive forms of breast cancer.
A diagnosis of TNBC means that the cancer cells do not have estrogen or progesterone receptors and do not produce a notable amount of HER-2 protein. Because these cells test "negative" for these receptors and proteins, the more common and effective treatments and therapy options are rendered ineffective in treating TNBC. Triple-negative breast cancers grow and spread faster and are more likely to recur.
Triple Negative Breast Cancer Day is on March 3rd each year. This is the only global event dedicated to raising both awareness and funds exclusively for triple negative breast cancer. It is also the day Linda passed away. 100% of all donations received in memory of Linda will be given to the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation and will be dedicated exclusively to TNBC research.
