Story
On Sunday October 2nd I am walking 26 miles as part of the virtual London Marathon, to raise money for Dorset Mind.
I am walking from Rick Stein’s, Sandbanks to Highcliffe Castle, Christchurch and back.
Mental health is not hidden anymore; it is on the front pages; it is on the political agenda; it is spoken about by royalty. For millions of people, mental health is now something to be honest about – not ashamed of.
The Mind community has been at the heart of this transformation. Together, we have shown what mental health really looks like, what support makes it better, and what needs to change let us keep this conversation going across Dorset.
All donations will go towards supporting mental health services and information for the people of Dorset.
Dorset Mind charity educates, challenges mental health stigma and inequality, and encourages recovery by empowering individuals to develop resilience. Their 1-2-1 & group support includes counselling, mentoring, support groups, active monitoring and a befriending service. These help people regain social skills and develop confidence. The charity also delivers educational wellbeing programmes for schools and workplaces and provide volunteer opportunities across all areas of the organisation. For more details, see dorsetmind.uk.
