I'm running for Team Kidney as 20 years ago in September our beautiful baby Kathryn was born with serious kidney problems – detected while I was still pregnant – requiring several  operations and procedures at the Newcastle RVI. Thanks to this wonderful treatment, and all the amazing advances in kidney research, Kathryn is now a healthy and independent young adult. She now spends a lot of time in children’s hospitals as she is training to be a Children’s Nurse!

Run: at the end of the Great Exhibition of the North and celebrating 20 years of a very special person. I know the difference medical research can make: Kathryn has grown up healthy and as a Children’s Nurse will help many other children and families … but my great-grandmother died of kidney disease as a young woman, leaving behind small children and a devastated husband, because her condition could not then be treated.
