Fundraising for Milton Keynes Midwives

Charlotte King is raising money for Milton Keynes Hospital Charity

Baking cakes · 5 June 2020

The maternity fund is fundraising directly for maternity services at Milton Keynes University Hospital - funding any items that go over and above NHS standard, and to enhance the stay of families on the hospital's maternity wards.

Story

Lily King, from Bow Brickhill, has been baking for the past six days and has raised over £200 for MK Hospital so far.

She has been taking orders from neighbours in her village and delivering them fresh bakes each day. All proceeds will be going to the midwives at Milton Keynes University Hospital, as Lily wants to become a midwife herself.

Lily said: "I am raising money for the midwives at MKUH to thank them for delivering babies and caring for mothers during the covid-19 difficult times. I want to be a midwife when I grow up and I feel that they are very overlooked and nobody focuses on them enough. On national midwife day, the only thank I saw was from pampers nappies and I believe that was unfair."

Around 70 cakes and bakes have been made so far, and Lily has two more days of baking to go .

This isn't the first time that Lily has baked for a cause she feels passionate about. Last year, Lily raised £500 for local resident Emily Locking to have a life-saving liver transplant. Sadly, Emily passed away, but the money raised was split between three charities, with some also going towards the future of Emily's daughter.
