My story- My cancer journey started in 2020 when I was diagnosed with a rare adrenaline tumour called a Paraganglioma. This was successfully removed in March of 2020. After my parents previously working alongside the charity to raise money, through our darkest time they offered us all support by talking to my parents to help them! I have since had another spout but this time a little different. In June of last year I was diagnosed again, this time with cancer in my kidney. This was removed in October 2022 and In December, I was officially told I was cancer free! So now it’s my turn to give back to those who help people like me in their hardest of times, making life a little better when it sometimes feels impossible. So please give to this incredible charity, because if it wasn’t for them, things could be a lot harder!
Abby’s hero’s story - Every year, having discovered the news that their child has been diagnosed with cancer, families enter either the Piam Brown Ward for 0-16yr olds, or the TYA Teenage and Young Adults Ward 16-24yrs at UHS University Hospital Southampton. The whole ethos of Abby's Heroes is to place our arm around the shoulders of these families and support them during this journey. We offer Financial Grants to help with the financial burden of having your child diagnosed, Practical support, Memory Making grants, Welfare Packs, Counselling service for the entire family, as well as two evening meals and a picnic lunch every week. Every single penny is vital to help Abby's Heroes provide these services.
