Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
For those of you that don't know, my family had to deal with the sudden death of a Sister, Daughter, Aunt and Best Friend. My sister, Katharina Turner, tragically and unexpectedly took her own life on 7th October 2012.
The last challenge I set myself, the Birmingham half marathon in 2013, was not easy. There were hospital visits, an appendicitis 6 weeks before the event, and tantrums. So why not up it and do a marathon...it'll be easy...
WRONG. This has by far mean the most difficult challenge I have ever set myself. There have been tears, and lots of them, illnesses and injuries galore, and threats to drop out...but with just 3 weeks to go (as of 13/03/16) and 600km of training down, I have finally booked my hotel which means it is definitely happening, even if I have to walk parts of it.
I have decided to run the Paris Marathon in aid of PAPYRUS, a charity that my family supports. The charity aims to prevent young suicide through support, practical advice and information as many young suicides are preventable.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
I would be very grateful for any donations made. Here are just some of the ways your contributions can help to save young lives:
£15 - can pay for one 20 minute call to help a young person in distress overcome their pain and stay safe
£50 - can keep the helpline, text and email services running for over an hour
£200 - can cover the cost of training someone in suicide intervention skills
£350 - would allow a trained mental health worker from PAPYRUS to deliver 5 suicide prevention class room lessons to students and teacher
£1000 - would help deliver 10 suicideTALK sessions to those who work with or care for young people, enabling them recognise and respond to suicidal behaviour
£2000 - would keep the helpline, HOPELineUK, alongside the text and email support services open for vulnerable young people and those around them for an entire week
Thanks for taking the time to read this page and thanks in advance for your help.
Much love,
Lily and the Turner's/Lee's
